A shutter lock that seizes, a glass door whose cylinder sticks, keys that left with a former employee: dealt with before opening or after closing, so customers never see it happen. If it is a staff key that never came back, or a lock that is getting worse, send a photo and book a slot outside opening hours. ## What shops and offices call about - **Shutter locks**: the lock or padlock on a roller shutter seized by grit and weather, or a key that will not turn. - **Glass shop doors**: the cylinder in an aluminium-framed door, and the floor or frame bolts that go with it. - **Staff turnover**: cylinders changed so that only the current team’s keys work. - **Back and service doors**: often the weak point, and the one nobody checks. - **Office doors**: inner doors with their own cylinder, for rooms only some staff should open. ## A town with a commercial road running through it The N-332, the carretera de Valencia, runs through Sant Joan as a long commercial avenue, with large stores and leisure centres on either side. Shops on a busy road can get grit in the shutter locks and have no quiet hour to fix them, which is why most commercial work here is booked before the shutters go up. [A shop on the carretera de Valencia](https://locksmithsanjuandealicante.es/guides/a-shop-on-the-carretera-de-valencia/) has more on keeping them working. The town centre has its own trade too: the Mercado de Abastos on carrer Mercat, open Monday to Saturday, and the Saturday street market on carrer Mercat and carrer Ordana. A town that once lived from the huerta now lives on services: in 2018 a car-hire company even moved its head office here from Barcelona. ## How a booked job for a business runs 1. **Photos and a list** Which doors and shutters, and a photo of each lock. Tell us if several doors should end up on one key. 2. **A slot outside opening hours** Early morning or after closing, arranged with whoever will be there. 3. **A price for the whole job** Agreed with the person responsible before any work starts. 4. **Keys counted and handed over** New keys counted in front of you, so you know exactly how many exist. ## After a forced entry, or for the safe in the back office If the premises were broken into, the door or shutter is secured the same day: [repairs after a forced entry](https://locksmithsanjuandealicante.es/burglary-repair-san-juan-de-alicante/). Yes, that is the usual arrangement for a shop or office: early morning or after closing, so no customer sees a toolbox. Book it a day or two ahead. ### A member of staff left without returning their key. What should we change? The cylinders that key opened, usually the shop door and sometimes the shutter or the back door. If several doors share one key, they can be changed together to a new matching set. ### Who needs to authorise work on business premises? The owner, the manager or somebody they authorise. A business card or a quick call from the person responsible is normally enough. ### Do you install alarms or access-control systems? No. Mechanical locks, cylinders and shutter locks, yes; alarms, cameras and electronic access belong to a security installer. ## Also useful for a business - [**Changing or repairing the lock** The lock is tired, or the wrong people have keys](https://locksmithsanjuandealicante.es/lock-change-san-juan-de-alicante/) - [**Making the house harder to get into** Someone has forced their way in](https://locksmithsanjuandealicante.es/burglary-repair-san-juan-de-alicante/) - [**A locked safe opened** The safe will not open](https://locksmithsanjuandealicante.es/safe-opening-san-juan-de-alicante/) Guides that lead here - [A shop on the carretera de Valencia](https://locksmithsanjuandealicante.es/guides/a-shop-on-the-carretera-de-valencia/) · 4 min ## Book a slot before opening time Send photos of the locks and the hours you are closed.
