Burglary repair San Juan de Alicante: the door shut tonight, stronger after
Coming home to a forced door is bad enough without spending the night unable to lock it. The first visit makes the door close and lock again and records the damage for the insurer. The second, if you want one, makes the house harder to get into than it was before.

- Door locked again on the first visit
- Written note for the insurer
- Upgrades only if you want them
Before ringing anyone else: do not go in if you think someone may still be inside, call the police, and photograph the door, the frame and the lock before anything is moved. The order to do things in is set out step by step in the guides.
Tonight
The first visit: a door that locks again
-
Look and record
How the door was forced, what is broken, what can be saved. Photos for you and for the note.
-
Price agreed
For what is needed tonight, before any work starts. Upgrades are discussed separately, never bundled in.
-
Secure it
A new cylinder, a repaired or replaced lock, the strike side reinforced, so the door shuts and locks properly.
-
The written note
Date, address, what was found and what was done, ready for the insurer.
Afterwards
Making the house harder to get into
- High-security cylinders that resist snapping, drilling and picking, fitted flush with the door plate.
- Guard plates (escudos) that cover the cylinder so it cannot be gripped.
- Reinforced strike plates on the frame side, where most forced doors give way.
- The back of the house: the back door, the garage and the patio slider brought up to the standard of the front.
None of it is pushed on you. You are shown what failed, what would have stopped it, and what it would cost, and you decide.
Here in particular
What tends to be weakest in Sant Joan’s houses
Cylinders from the boom years. Seven tenths of the built floor area of Sant Joan dates from 1980 to 2009, and many front doors still carry the cylinder fitted then, made before anti-snap and anti-bump designs were common. Why a first cylinder is worth checking.
Houses with several ways in. Townhouses in Lloixa, Salafranca and round the centre have a gate, a garage, a back door and a slider as well as the front door. Strengthening only the front leaves the rest as it was: every lock of a townhouse in one visit.
Older houses of the huerta. Fincas and their outbuildings often keep old locks and doors that are beautiful but easy to force. Reinforcing them without spoiling them is slower work, planned with you.

If valuables were in a safe, or it is a shop
A safe that was attacked, or one you now want fitted, is its own page. A planned cylinder change without a break-in is the lock change page. If you cannot get in at all, ring the call-out line. Repairs reach every part of the municipality.
Questions
After a forced door: police, insurers, cylinders
Do the police need to see the forced door before it is repaired?
Report it to the police first and ask whether they want to see the door. Once they have, or have said they will not come, the door can be repaired. Photos taken before anything is touched help with both.
Will you give me something in writing for the insurer?
Yes: a written note of how the door was forced, what was damaged and what was replaced or repaired, with the date. Insurers usually ask for exactly that.
What is the difference between an anti-bump and a high-security cylinder?
An anti-bump cylinder resists bumping and picking. A high-security one adds resistance to drilling and snapping, a protected key and usually a key card. After a break-in the second is worth considering.
The door frame itself is split. Can you fix that?
The lock side can be reinforced so the door closes and locks securely again. A badly split frame may need a carpenter afterwards, and you are told so honestly.
